Letting Go

One thing that golf has taught me is the action of letting go..

The commitment of letting go. What I mean by that is you can not let your last shot effect your current one. A great golfer once said "you can not be a perfectionist and play golf, you get good breaks from bad lies and bad breaks from from great lies...".

Your situations are always changing just as the environment is changing. If you choose to stay focused on how bad the last shot was then you allow doubt to overtake you. You have to learn how to adapt and let go of the frustration you have if you don't hit a shot you want and if you don't get the breaks you want. You have to be able to assess the mistake and learn from it on the next shot, and not let anger or doubt overtake you.

Just as golf is ever changing so is life and the importance of staying present is ever important if you plan to be successful and that is due to the simple fact that life is not about focusing on the past, on the would have, could have, should have beens ....

It’s about letting go and continuing to find meaning in every moment. It’s about embracing mistakes because that’s part of a blue print for the future.

Mistakes make you wiser and move you closer to perfection. Don't let life live you, live your life. Something that I do to move on from a bad situation is to state facts in my head or self affirmations. For example, I will tell myself "the next shot will always be better", "I am worthy", and so on...

What are you doing to live?

Hello My Name Is.....

I decided to start a  blog that keeps track of what I have learned during practice as well as other life lessons off of the course.

I am 22 years old and have been playing golf for a very long time. I would say though, that I never really started taking it seriously until about 3 years ago. Since then I have been working hard every day  to refine and tune my swing. Although I have not been playing golf with the "proper" technique, I thankfully have been blessed with great spatial and athletic ability. And also swinging at a ball for 12 years helps aid in that process.

My goal is to to be playing professionally on the LPGA tour some day. Even though I have been playing golf for such a long time that doesn't mean that I have been playing golf properly for a long time, otherwise, I'd already be on tour. I do not believe that it ever to late to chase after what you want.

I literally had to start from scratch with my swing.  I had to start from the ground up and it has been a very rocky road, but the outcome has and will be well worth the work.

My goal that I have is very feasible and I could not be trying to pursue this dream without my support system. I believe that no matter what anyone wants to do, that if they do not have a support system, then they will not succeed. Even the wealthiest and most successful of people would not be where they are without a support system. I have been very blessed and fortunate to be able to be surrounded by people that continually lift me up and continually support me. I am very blessed to have a family that has been able to provide a means for me to continue to pursue what I want to do. For that, I am forever grateful.

When I met my swing coach, whom I also call my friend, I never realized how much was in store for me. For 3 years I have been working with him, and each time I think I have reached my maximum level of potential, a few weeks will go by and I will look back and see all the growth that has happened within my swing. For example,  when I look back now,  I used to think I was really good, but now I think I am even better.

That is kind of like what life is like as well. Sometimes we don't realize how much change has taken place until we take a step back and reflect.

Every day is another day to be better.
